The Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland (PPS) was established in June 2005 by the commencement of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 and is the principal prosecuting authority in Northern Ireland. The PPS sits at the heart of the criminal justice system through taking decisions to prosecute in cases investigated by the police in Northern Ireland, and considering cases investigated by other statutory authorities, such as HM Revenue and Customs. 

The Attorney General is seeking applications for this prestigious post. Accordingly, the role demands an individual of the highest calibre, integrity and repute. 

Applicants must be a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least seven years’ standing or be a solicitor of the Court of Judicature in Northern Ireland with at least seven years’ standing. The successful applicant will have an excellent knowledge of criminal law and practice; and the ability to apply it to the most serious and difficult cases.
