Head of Economics Research

REF: IRC243158

DEPARTMENT: Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute Northern Ireland (AFBI)

SALARY: £56,815 - £63,979 (under review)

LOCATION: AFBI Newforge, 18a Newforge Lane, Belfast, BT9 5PX

AFBI is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, internationally recognised expert to lead AFBI’s Agricultural and Food Economics research programme. The candidate would enter AFBI at an exciting time which involves the deeper integration of economics as a discipline across the multi-dimensional Agri-food science programmes delivered by AFBI. Demand for work from the economics programme in AFBI is also growing so strong leadership skills will be sought to manage the future development of both staff and the work programme to deliver for local and national governments and wider agri-food stakeholders. This unique opportunity will contribute significantly to shaping future policy and strategies both within AFBI, DAERA, the NI and UK agri-food industry, and further afield.

Further appointments may be made from this competition should AFBI positions become vacant which have similar duties and responsibilities.
