Healthcare Policy Group Deputy Secretary (Grade 3)

SALARY: £88,596 to £101,092 (under review)

LOCATION: Castle Buildings, Stormont Estate, Belfast

This is an important and challenging post. The opportunity to apply occurs at a period of significant change in the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care (HSC) system. The successful candidate, who will be part of the Department’s Top Management Group (TMG), will lead, manage and co-ordinate a wide ranging portfolio, by determining priorities and allocating resources and expertise, in line with Departmental requirements. The post holder is the key advisor to the Minister and Permanent Secretary on all legislative and policy issues within their remit, calling upon professional expertise in relation to matters requiring specific expertise. The post provides an excellent opportunity to deliver results that will make a real difference to people’s lives and will offer significant job satisfaction.

This post may be filled by secondment of the successful candidate from his/her current employer.

A reserve list will be drawn up but will only be used should this post become vacant again within the lifetime of the competition which is for one year.
