HIGHER SCIENTIFIC OFFICER – MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

SALARY: £30,526 – 32,157 (under review)

LOCATION: AFBI Headquarters, Newforge Lane, Belfast, BT9 5PX

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced scientist to join the pest and pathogen molecular team in the Grassland and Plant Science Branch of AFBI Newforge. The successful candidate will initially address the challenge of developing molecular diagnostic tests to achieve an accredited ISO17025 quality standard for the laboratories statutory diagnostic service provision. The post holder will also be expected to collaborate productively with researchers in GPS Branch and across other Branches, who have similar molecular biology and plant pathology interests and to build upon linkages with other academic groups to deliver results that will contribute to the success of the agri-food Industry in Northern Ireland and beyond.
