Appointment of Board Members - Northern Ireland Statistics Advisory Committee (SAC)

The Statistics Advisory Committee (SAC) is a non-departmental public body of the Department of Finance (DoF), established under the Statistics of Trade and Employment (NI) Order 1988. SAC’s function is to advise the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) and thereby Northern Ireland Departments, on matters relating to the collection and disclosure of statistical information from businesses under the Statistics of Trade and Employment (NI) Order 1988; and to advise on statistical issues such as quality assurance, official statistics, and other similar matters referred to it by Departments.
 
DoF is seeking to appoint up to 9 new members to SAC. It is the Agency’s intention that the new appointees will be in place by September 2024. The terms of appointment will be for a five-year term, with the possibility of extension for a second term. The expected time commitment amounts to approximately three days per year. These are non-remunerated posts. Following appointment, travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.
 
There are no specific academic/professional qualifications required to apply for these positions. However we are looking for individuals with a diverse range of expertise and specialist knowledge, acquired from within the Public, Private, Voluntary or Community sectors who can make an effective contribution to our Committee based on their skills and experience.
