Nationality Guidance

Northern Ireland Civil Service Nationality Rules

For appointment to the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS), we must ensure that you are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom and satisfy the nationality requirements.

The Civil Service recruitment: nationality rules - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) govern eligibility for employment with us on the grounds of nationality and must be followed by all government departments in their recruitment and appointment procedures.

To comply with our statutory responsibility to prevent illegal working, we conduct simple right to work checks before we will employ you to ensure you are not disqualified from carrying out the work in question by reason of your immigration status.

You must be legally entitled to work in the UK and satisfy the Civil Service Nationality Rules. All applications for NICS external recruitment competitions are subject to the Civil Service Nationality Rules.
